Compact & long linear fluorescent light bulbs (unbroken) - Home Depot (Compact bulbs only), or 1stSaturday of each month at the Huntsville Landfill, 4100 Leeman Ferry Road, Huntsville, AL. 
If taken to the landfill, they are sent to a recycling company!

Hazardous Household Waste (cleaning solution, paint, etc) - These can be dropped off every 1stSaturday from 8am - noon at Huntsville Landfill's "Handle with Care Collection Center" at 4100 Leeman Ferry Road
